Stacia's Mosaic News! Summer 2022

Welcome to our summer newsletter. Scroll to see our newest work and announcements in public art, and for art consultants, interior designers and fans. Contact us to chat about a commission. Don’t delay! Our studio schedule is heating up.

Feature Project: Holy Moly

JUST INSTALLED: Central Lutheran Church, Minneapolis, MN. Built in 1919, CLC is an enduring and favorite downtown landmark, with a motto we love: “All are welcome. No exceptions.” We added thousands of tiny Italian glass tiles to a custom, three-tier baptismal fountain (three 4-foot diameter bowls) carved by Cold Spring Granite. Watch for a video in our fall newsletter. What an honor to work in this incredible space, meticulously placing one tile at a time. See more photos.

The commission also included adding tile to a custom candle holder.

Public Art News

NEW PROJECT: North Lakeland Discovery Center, Wisconsin. We’re thrilled to announce a new collaboration with this beautiful nature center in Manitowish Waters. They’re adding a welcome center, more classrooms and other amenities to foster the next generation of environmental stewards. We’ll be creating a lively mosaic floor medallion for the interior main entrance. Here’s a snippet of the circular design:

The design is in-progress, but it “otter” be good!

NEW VIDEO: Capitol Hill Montessori School at Logan, Washington, D.C. Don’t miss this video of a project we posted in our spring issue. Watch these curious kiddoes making friends with the mosaic. It was magical for us to witness the moment in person. See more photos.

The 40-foot-long exterior wall mural includes career choices from the school’s sixth-graders. The mosaic culminates with “I am ME.”

Residential News

(Secret) Spa. Here’s a final update on this residential project, which we posted last winter. Our custom mosaic is now complete, surrounded by our dramatic black-field-tile design. Cleverly, the mosaic is in a private, in-home spa located behind a hidden door ... disguised within a bookcase. See more photos.

The all-glass mosaic scrolls across two walls in an open shower area adjacent to a copper soaking tub.

Making News

We’ve moved! Not our actual studio, but we had lost our former big shop/staging warehouse to bulldozers and redevelopment. We’re happily resettled in an even better, funky, old 1,000 square-foot building with great his/herstory and other creative businesses (like a rock-‘n-roll camp for adults.)

Busy, new shop on left. Empty, old shop on right. Same happy artist in both shots.
