Public Art News
Hennepin County Medical Center. This 12-foot-high mixed-media mosaic tree and its sister “flow” wall welcome patients and staff to the new Redleaf Center for Family Healing. The Center will promote the parent-child relationship by supporting mental health and parenting.
The materials make this mosaic extra special. Among the tile and glass are many parenting-related items donated by the Center’s staff and embedded in the tree’s flowing life energy. The leaf canopy and sun are painted substrate board created by the talented art consultant/artist Vicki Hovde.

Answer: A long time. From winning a commission to installation can take a year or more. On average, actual fabrication takes from three to six months, depending on:

• Design sophistication

• Studio schedule
